Yancey - Weiler Announcement

Yancey Bros. Co. Partnering with Weiler Inc. on Purpose-Built Forestry Products

August 28, 2018 - Austell, Georgia - As previously announced, Caterpillar Inc. has entered into an agreement to sell the Cat® purpose-built forestry business to Weiler, Inc. Yancey Bros. Co. is an existing dealer for Weiler and has a long and successful relationship representing its products in Georgia. Yancey Bros. Co. will work closely with Weiler and Caterpillar to ensure a smooth transition.

"The transition of Caterpillar's purpose-built forestry business to Weiler is a great fit for our dealership and for our forestry customers," observed Trey Googe, Yancey Bros. Co. President. "We are particularly excited that production of the purpose-built forestry products will continue in our home state. We look forward to representing the entire Weiler product line in Georgia."

Weiler will design and manufacture purpose-built forestry products out of the existing manufacturing plant and warehouse in LaGrange, Georgia. It is anticipated that approximately 270 Caterpillar employees currently supporting the purpose-built forestry business will become Weiler employees. Caterpillar will continue to manufacture forestry excavators designed for log loading, processing, and other forestry applications, in addition to supplying core Caterpillar equipment to the forestry industry. Yancey will continue to support sales and service for the complete Caterpillar forestry portfolio, in addition to the full Weiler product line.

Founded in 2000, Weiler has a long-standing history of successfully manufacturing purpose-built equipment and they currently produce an extensive portfolio of products distributed through the Cat dealer network.
