YOU CAME, YOU SAW, YOU COMPETED »

We’re on a quest to find the best — the best equipment operator in the world and we’re so glad that you competed in our Athens Operator Challenge event in 2022 and showed off your agility, speed and accuracy in a series of skills-based tests.

Once we’ve completed our last challenge in Macon on September 16th, we will announce the ONE local winner who will move on to the regional finals in North Carolina and from there Cat will determine which operators will move on to the Global Operator Challenge finals at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 in Las Vegas, where Caterpillar will crown one operator world champion.

Check out the top 3 ranking from our Athens Competition below! If you competed, check your email for the full list ranking challenge participants or contact info@yanceybros.com if you cannot find the email.

FAQ »

Q: How many Operator Challenges will there be? A: Yancey will host two challenges that will take place on Thursday, August 18th in Athens and Friday, September 16th in Macon. Save the dates!

Q: What happens if the first-place operator from the Yancey Operator Challenges cannot attend the regional event? A: If the qualifying operator is unable to attend the regional event, we would ask the next top qualifying operator (2nd, 3rd, etc.) if they would be able and willing to participate.

Q: How do operators qualify to move on to the next round? A: One (1) operator with the best overall score (best overall from both Yancey events) will advance to the Caterpillar sponsored regional event in Clayton, North Carolina (travel expenses paid by Yancey & Cat). Operators with the best overall score at the Caterpillar-sponsored regional events (4 global regions) will advance to the Global Operator Challenge Final event at 2023 Conexpo in Las Vegas.

Q: Can I participate in multiple Operator Challenges? A: No. You can only compete in the Operator Challenge for which you register, e.g., if you registered to participate in Athens, you can only compete in the Athens Operator Challenge.

Q: How are the challenges scored? A: Operators are scored on overall time to complete a challenge via stopwatch or other timing method plus any penalties with additive time allotments incurred to obtain an overall challenge time. Penalties such as safe operation protocols, contacting course obstacles and others vary in number and time additions based on the challenge.
