Yancey Earns Prestigious Award from Georgia’s National Guard and Reserve
Yancey Bros. Co. was awarded the Pro Patria Award given by the Georgia Office of the Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (E.S.G.R.) at their awards banquet held in Augusta. Blair Curtis, Senior Vice President, Rick Dildine, Austell Specialty Shop Service Manager, Hal Smith, Calhoun Parts Supervisor, and Ed Mullis, Cumming Cat Rental Store Driver, attended the ceremony and accepted the award.
The E.S.G.R. conducts an awards program designed to recognize employers who support a strong National Guard and Reserve force. Employers qualify for recognition when they practice leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve.
The Pro Patria Award is a very prestigious award. It is the highest state level award given by the E.S.G.R. and this year, Yancey walked away with top honors. Yancey Bros. Co. was only one of two Georgia companies from nearly 300 entries nominated to win the award.
According to Hal Smith, Calhoun Parts Supervisor and nominator of Yancey for the award, “It goes to show what kind of a company Yancey Bros. Co. is. It’s really a big deal to have won the award. I am extremely fortunate to be employed by two fantastic organizations! As a Yancey employee and a Reservist in the Air Force, I can only hope that being good at the one makes me better at the other. This award is for all of the people involved and the programs Yancey has in place to help the citizen soldiers, airmen, and their families when we are deployed. It comes as no surprise that Yancey out paced their competition at the E.S.G.R. awards. Quite frankly . . . it’s something we’ve been doing for almost a century.”
As a result of Yancey winning Georgia’s top award for the E.S.G.R., they have likewise been nominated by the E.S.G.R. to represent the state of Georgia as their entry in Washington, DC for the Secretary of Defense “Eagle” award. The Secretary of Defense Awards ceremony will be held on September 12, 2007, in Washington DC. It will recognize the top 15 employers in the United States and US territories.
Thanks to all of the Yancey employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve and those with family members and friends serving our state and country.
