Heavy Equipment Service Technology Program

Program Description
The Heavy Equipment Service Technician technical certificate program provides training in both the theory and diagnosis of basic systems found on diesel engines and heavy equipment. The program provides instruction in basic shop safety and equipment, diesel engines and fuel systems, electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics.

The program is designed to encompass three quarters and will offer students an opportunity to apply their skills in an internship environment at a local Caterpillar equipment or oever-the-road truck engine repair facility. This program is ideal for any student wanting to start a career in the field of heavy equipment repair.

Length of Program
To graduate from this program with a Diploma you must earn a minimum of 92 credit hours.

Program Openings
The first class for Heavy Equipment Service Technology students began in September 2005. Applications for enrollment for future classes are available now, but class size is limited and students will be chosen based on their background and mechanical aptitude.
